The ASSOCIUM Community Chest represents our commitment to helping build sustainable communities. We believe that true equality for people comes through economic independence and the opportunity to pursue their interests with dignity and respect. This year, the ACC honored those in the BVI whose lives were severely affected by Hurricane Irma, and who have not yet built back their livelihoods and their homes. The proceeds of this tournament will also be shared by Broad Reach Foundation. Broad Reach Foundation provides programs combine leadership and life skills development through sail training – a unique model that makes this life changing activity accessible to at-risk youth.
We wish to thank SKETCH for their assistance in helping us to provide business development grants to two very talented artists, last year. SKETCH is a community arts enterprise that engages diverse people, ages 16-29, from across Canada, who are navigating poverty, living homeless or otherwise on the margins, to experience the transformative power of the arts; build leadership and self-sufficiency in the arts; and cultivate social and environmental change through the arts.
We are thrilled to have had the support this year for a great day of fun on the golf course, at the Annual Nelson Johnson Memorial Charity Invitational. With the help of many wonderful partners and friends, the proceeds are going to the ACC, in support of relief for the British Virgin Islands after the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma, and the Broad Reach Foundation in support of marginalized youth.
