Administrative Services Only Plans

An Administrative Services Only (ASO) plan is an alternative way for employers to fund the health and dental portion of their group benefits plan.

Usually recommended for large groups with a favourable claims experience, stable claiming pattern and tolerance for risk, ASO is self-insurance; using this funding model, an employer will assume the cost of predictable claims while being protected against large individual claims by an insurance program.

Health Care Spending Accounts

A Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) is a flexible addition or alternative to a fixed rate health and dental plan.

HCSAs are a non-taxable benefit to employees that provides reimbursement for a wide range of health-related expenses that may not be covered under group benefits plans.

HCSAs are simple to administer.  Employees submit HCSA claim forms to the benefits provider for eligible expenses and are reimbursed in full up to a pre-determined limit determined by the employer; employers are billed monthly for all claims submitted.
